Russia is preparing new propaganda operations in Europe, specifically targeting Ukrainian refugees, to discourage them from returning to Ukraine, according to Vadym Skibitskyi, a representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense, as reported by the Directorate on Aug. 21
Skibitskyi noted that the Kremlin is intensifying its anti-Ukrainian activities abroad.
“This includes forming various organizations, educating children, and using the church—tools to make Ukrainians lose their identity and, even more so, to prevent them from ever returning to Ukraine,” Skibitskyi said.
For these propaganda operations, Russian forces are using pro-Russian media and so-called journalists from temporarily occupied Ukrainian territories. This includes promoting books that falsely accuse Ukraine of committing “crimes” in the Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts.
These efforts are being carried out in countries like Italy, according to Skibitskyi.
