Latvia has prepared a large batch of domestically produced drones for shipment to Ukraine, Latvian Defense Minister Andris Spruds announced on X on Aug. 23.
Latvia’s Ministry of Defense has finalized the purchase of over 2,700 UAVs from local manufacturers for Ukraine, an official said.
Additionally, Latvia has supplied Ukraine with more than 3,000 combat drones as part of an international coalition.
The official added that Latvia will continue supporting Ukraine’s victory.
Latvian aid to Ukraine
On April 11, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Latvian President Edgars Rinkevichs signed a security agreement.
On April 16, Latvian official Evika Silinia announced that Latvia was preparing to send its first batch of drones to Ukraine as part of a drone coalition.
On April 22, Latvian Defense Minister Andris Spruds stated that Latvia would provide Ukraine with a short-range air defense system.
