A large blue-and-yellow flag was unfurled in Odesa on Ukraine’s National Flag Day on Aug. 23, according to local publication Dumska.
For the first time since Russia’s full-scale invasion, the Ukrainian flag was unfurled on the iconic Potemkin Stairs, a tradition that was observed annually before 2022 with a 30-meter-long flag.
Ukraine celebrates Flag Day on Aug. 23, commemorating the day in 1991 when a group of people’s deputies brought the blue and yellow flag into the Verkhovna Rada after the failed Moscow coup.
