8/26/2024 — Ukraine boosts output from old natural gas field

From: New Voice of Ukraine 🇺🇦 Ukraine’s state-owned natural gascompany UkrGasVydobuvannya has launched a new extraction well at an old gas field, boosting its output by 107,000 cubic meters per day, the company announced on Aug. 21.

The 3,715-meter-deep well was drilled at the Shebelinske gas condensate field that has been in development since 1978. The field has significant remaining reserves—over 900 million cubic meters of gas.

“We achieved high output at this well thanks to intensification measures, specifically completing three stages of hydraulic fracturing,” said UkrGasVydobuvannya CEO Serhiy Lahno.

“The well was developed using a coil tubing unit.”

The company previously reported launching 86 new wells in 2023, 24 of which had initial outputs exceeding 100,000 cubic meters per day. From January to May 2024, they drilled 36 new extraction wells, 11 of which are highly productive.

In January to June 2024, UkrGasVydobuvannya increased its natural gas output by 8.8% compared to the same period in 2023, reaching 6.913 billion cubic meters…
