From: Roman Sheremeta—Yesterday, I showed the ranking of countries providing military aid to Ukraine as a % of their defense budget. Denmark was at the top, committed to provide Ukraine with military assistance comparable to 71% of its defense budget.
Some people asked me to provide a different ranking of countries where aid to Ukraine is calculated as a % of GDP. Here it is. The graph shows bilateral aid allocations to Ukraine as a share of 2021 donor country GDP between 2022 and 2024.
As you can see, the results are very similar. Denmark is at the top, together with other Scandinavian and Baltic countries. The explanation here is relatively simple: proximity to russia and historical interactions with russia play a significant role.
Once you experience russian evil, you will do everything to get rid of it once and for all.
