Russian dictator Vladimir Putin’s recent statements about peace talks do not indicate a genuine desire for peace, the head of Ukraine’s Center for Countering Disinformation (CCD), Andriy Kovalenko, said in a Telegram post on Sept. 5.
Instead, Kovalenko argues that Putin is seeking Ukraine’s capitulation.
“Putin’s ‘peace’ phantom,β said Kovalenko.
βWe should not confuse the concepts of peace and capitulation, because Putin wants Ukraine’s capitulation. He claims our territories and ‘includes them in the composition of Russia.’”
Ukraine needs peace, but it must be just and in accordance with international law, which Putin is not ready to accept, Kovalenko added.
“All talks about Istanbul 2022 will not bring back the destroyed Bakhmut, so he is lying,” Kovalenko explained.
βHe needs our capitulation. And talks about peace are traps, just like over 100 years ago, Russia wants to divide us internally around different beliefs to stop our resistance.β
