The United States is seeking details from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on his plans for conducting strikes on Russian territory before lifting restrictions on the use of Western weapons, Bloomberg reported on Sept. 11, citing unnamed officials.
According to the report, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy asked Zelenskyy and his team to outline a long-term war strategy for the coming year. The request aims to help the United States better understand Kyiv’s objectives and how Western support can aid in achieving them before making final decisions.
The sources added that no significant changes in Washingtonβs policy on ATACMS missile use are expected this week.
Blinken and Lammy visited Kyiv on Sept. 11, announcing substantial contributions to helping Ukraine rebuild its energy infrastructure which remains under constant Russian air strikes.
U.S. President Joe Biden and UK PM Keir Starmer will meet in Washington on Sept. 13, where they are likely to discuss joint policies on Ukraine using Western weapons in Russian territory.
