Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Heorhii Tykhyi, stated that the Kremlin disregards the needs of its people and fears that international observers from the UN and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) could reveal the true situation in areas of Kursk Oblast controlled by Ukraine’s Armed Forces.
He made this statement on Sept. 16 on social media platform X.
“Kremlin’s reaction to Ukraine’s proposal to involve the UN and ICRC in humanitarian efforts in Kursk Oblast shows a disregard for its own people and their humanitarian needs, as well as a fear that international observers might see the real situation. This is quite telling,” Tykhyi wrote.
On Sept. 16, Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry called on the United Nations and the International Committee of the Red Cross to join humanitarian efforts in areas of Russia’s Kursk Oblast currently under the control of Ukraine’s Armed Forces.
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov dismissed this as a “provocation” and claimed that the Kremlin allegedly counts on a “rational assessment of such statements.”
