Former Polish Foreign Minister Jacek Czaputowicz has criticized the policy of Prime Minister Donald Tusk‘s government towards Ukraine, calling it as a “hyena policy” in his column published in the Polish newspaper Rzeczpospolita on Sept. 18.
“When a year ago I called the foreign policy of the Law and Justice Party toward Ukraine and Volyn a hyena policy, I did not expect that it would become a state policy in the new government. What was a disgrace became a manifestation of alleged political realism,” he wrote.
This policy is aimed at taking advantage of Ukraine’s difficult situation, especially when it is under pressure from Russian troops.
“However, it should be remembered that hyena actions can have the opposite effect. For example, in 1938, Poland forced a bleeding Czechoslovakia to surrender the Trans-Dniester region, but this is no reason to be proud. The actions of the hyena may benefit the bear – we should not have to face them and pray that others do not apply such policies to us”.
