Sappers have cleared 53% of the right-bank Kherson Oblast, or about 365,000 hectares, local governor Oleksandr Prokudin said on Sept. 18.
Prokudin said thousands of sappers inspect Kherson Oblast daily and have cleared 203,000 explosive objects.
He expects demining of the right bank to be complete by the end of 2025 if the current pace continues.
Plans include forming a demining battalion or mini-squads to boost efforts, with an increase in the number of sappers.
In January 2024, it was reported that 24.5% of the de-occupied Kherson Oblast had been cleared.
As of April 5, Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko noted that about 25% of Ukraine is contaminated with mines due to the invasion.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs and State Emergency Service estimate full demining could take up to ten years.
