Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will push for U.S. President Joe Biden to extend an official invitation for Ukraine to join NATO and commit to a long-term supply of modern weaponry as part of a victory plan aimed at ending Russia’s war against Ukraine, Bloomberg reported on Sep. 20.
The plan also outlines a clear path for Ukraine to join the European Union, along with additional economic and security agreements.
Zelenskyy referred to the plan as a “roadmap” to compel Russian dictator Vladimir Putin to “seek peace,” as Ukraine is concerned that a ceasefire without specific guarantees would allow Russia to rearm and strike again.
Zelenskyy has declined to publicly share details of the plan for now, stating that he will first present them to Biden. He also intends to discuss the plan with U.S. presidential candidates, including Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump, as well as members of Congress from both parties.
