From: Ira Kapitonova (Day 947)
God reigns over the nations;
God sits on his holy throne.
Psalm 47:8
I had some thoughts I wanted to share tonight, but I forgot them once I saw an update on one of the recently released POWs. I remember his face after he was released about two weeks ago. There was a video clip of him on the day of his return – his mom hugging and talking to him and him being quiet and emotionless, staring into nowhere.
As it turns out, this young man spent over 2 years in the most cruel Russian prisons. He was punished with hunger and tortured with an electroshocker. From all the maltreatment and abuse, he lost the ability to speak or feel emotions. The doctors had very pessimistic prognoses, but the Lord is good and this young man is slowly recovering. His mom said his first words after he started speaking were, “Why is there so much pain, and why are people so cruel to each other?”
