From: Maia Mikhaluk — In the last few days there have been quite a few lies about Ukraine transmitted from high stages – no, not in ruzzia, but in the States!
“Ukraine is gone. It’s not Ukraine anymore” is a lie! Yes, Ukraine has been under relentless drone and missile attacks for 948 days, but Ukraine is not gone. Our people show a lot of resilience and determination – both in defending our country and continuing to live our lives. If you came to Kyiv you would find the stores, the restaurants, cafes, shopping malls as busy as they were before ruzzian invasion. Playgrounds in the parks are full of children; kids go to school daily for in-person classes. Public transportation works. Kharkiv is a city that has been under a lot of bombings the last few months – it’s so close to ruzzian border that ruzzians can shell the city from their territory. There are areas of Kharkiv that have been damaged greatly, but the city is still very much functioning and a million people stay there. “Ukraine is gone” is only in putin’s dreams and on the tongue of one politician who is eager to make a deal with putin.
“Millions and millions of people in Ukraine are dead” is a lie! The greatest casualties are among our military. It’s estimated by American intelligence to be around 70,000. Casualties among civilians are in the thousands. It’s tragic! Every life lost is a tragedy. But what is the point of exaggeration to millions and millions?
“The heritage of Ukraine is gone” is a lie. Yes, ruzzians target and destroy what they can, they steal as much as they can on occupied territories, but Ukraine’s heritage is not gone. It would be gone if someone made a deal with putin whose goal is for Ukraine and Ukrainians to disappear from the map.
“Every time Zelenskyy came to the US he walked away with $60 billion”, and “USA gave 300 billion while European countries gave just a fraction of that” – both statements are lies. We are grateful for all the help, for sure. It is very much needed. But just to be clear – the USA has helped us with $175 billion and Europe – $126 billion. You can easily research that.
“Biden and Harris caused this war by the stupidity of what they said” is a lie. Ruzzia and putin started this war and it started it in 2014 during Obama time and this war was not stopped when Trump was President either. The war was caused by putin’s greed for control and power.
“There’s nothing really for Ukrainian people to move back to” I guess this statement is made to prove that Ukraine should just surrender to putin and agree to cease to exist. But here are a few facts. Our population is around 38 million. By the end of 2023, the war in Ukraine had displaced an estimated 3.7 million people within the country and 6.3 million refugees abroad. Over 4.5 million have returned home to date from either abroad or displacement within the country. People are returning – to their cities that suffer missile/drone attacks and blackouts and to villages even close to front lines where houses have been damaged by shelling – they return because this is our home! Yes, there are towns and villages completely destroyed- those are under ruzzian occupation because that’s how ruzzians take over – by complete leveling of everything to the ground.
“The worst deal would have been better”. There is no deal that would satisfy putin and allow Ukraine to exist as a country. As Golda Meir said once, “We intend to remain alive. Our neighbors want to see us dead. This is not a question that leaves much room for compromise.”
