From: New Voice of Ukraine—Poland expects further actions from the Ukrainian authorities concerning search and exhumation efforts for Polish victims of the 1943 Volhynia Massacre, Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski said on Oct. 3.

“I hope this Christian duty will simply be fulfilled,” Polish news agency PAP quoted Sikorski.

He added that there is national consensus in Poland on the need to resume the exhumation of the massacre’s victims.

The minister also recalled that in September, he discussed this issue with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Kyiv.

“When I spoke three weeks ago in Kyiv, I was assured that this matter would be resolved,” Sikorski said.

“I hope it will be resolved because we want to achieve this not to irritate Ukraine but to ensure Polish-Ukrainian reconciliation and friendship.”

He suggested that without resolving the exhumation issue, Poland would not support Ukraine’s accession to the European Union.
