From: Ira Kapitonova in Kyiv (Day 957)
Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me,
for in you my soul takes refuge;
in the shadow of your wings I will take refuge,
till the storms of destruction pass by.
Psalm 57:1
There were more distant explosions this morning. In a way, you hope to hear an explosion when you are attacked with drones and missiles because, most of the time, it would mean that our air defense neutralized the threat.
I have been thinking lately about the long-term consequences of this war. There are a few people I know who are suffering from panic attacks. Keeping your mind focused on a task has been harder than usual. In general, we’re getting more straightforward because you know that life is too short to be wasted on unimportant things.
Someone posted a picture of an announcement they found in a taxi:
“Hello! The service is provided by a driver who took part in the hostilities and was a POW. Please be respectful and considerate. There might be manifestations of non-standard behavior and reactions to loud sounds. Please don’t be loud, and don’t ask uncomfortable questions. Thank you!”
I kept wondering how much courage and wisdom it took to create that announcement. Perhaps there had been situations that highlighted the need for one. In general, it is a reminder for us to be considerate because we don’t know the traumas each one of us is carrying.
