From: Ira Kapitonova in Kyiv (Day 970)
Let them be put to shame and confusion who seek my life!
Let them be turned back and brought to dishonor who delight in my hurt!
Psalm 70:2
I was getting ready for bed, anticipating snuggling under the warm blanket and resting my head on a soft pillow. That’s when my phone buzzed – three short ones, three long ones, three short ones. That’s the distinctive buzz that warns us about an air raid.
A few dozens of drones wander over most regions of Ukraine. Our air-defense forces are shooting them down around Kyiv.
Over the first 20 days of October, Russians have launched 1,118 drones, an average of 55 drones a night, and our defenders were able to shut down or divert 95% of them.
So I choose to look up to the blessings I have instead of something I don’t. I am snug and cozy on my beanbag in our apartment corridor. My son, husband, and cat are next to me. I pray for our defenders as I hear distant explosions that may be mistaken for thunder or fireworks. I know that the Lord holds the whole world in His hands, and everything is under His sovereign will, so I can fall asleep in peace.
May all who seek you rejoice and be glad in you!
May those who love your salvation say evermore, “God is great!”
Psalm 70:4
