Russian diplomats from the Consulate General in Poznan, which Poland’s Foreign Ministry decided to close, must leave the country by Nov. 30, spokesperson Pawel Wronski said on Oct. 28, as reported by PAP.
Wronski specified that technical discussions were held between Polish and Russian representatives regarding the consulate’s closure.
“The consulate has been given until Nov. 30 to vacate the building in Poznan,” he noted.
According to Wronski, the consulate’s shutdown is a complex process requiring the removal of various equipment.
“The Russian diplomats have been ordered to leave Poland and have been declared persona non grata. We aim to handle this issue in a civilized manner while clearly signaling to the Russian side that certain actions are unacceptable in Poland,” Wronski emphasized.
On Oct. 22, Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski announced the closure of Russia’s Consulate General in Poznan.
Previously, Sikorski disclosed that a Ukrainian national suspected of preparing sabotage in Wroclaw admitted to cooperating with Russian intelligence services.
Poland’s top diplomat indicated he has testimony from the detainee about collaboration with Russia and added that the Kremlin had intended to conduct sabotage activities across Europe.
