11/2/2024 — Give justice to the weak and the fatherless; maintain the right of the afflicted and the destitute.

Today’s picture is a beautiful landscape by Vladyslav Musiienko.

Give justice to the weak and the fatherless;
maintain the right of the afflicted and the destitute.
Psalm 82:3

One of the things I often think about is how to not get focused just on our problems and challenges. It’s so easy to notice things that go wrong in your life, and it’s even easier to sink into self-pity because of the war.
That’s why I am so encouraged by our weekly chapel on Fridays. This year, our students are learning about a new country or people group and the challenges they have. Listening to our kids pray for the protection of Christians in China or Pakistan or for blessings on the Christian schools in Czechia, I often choke up. They do often pray for each other, for our school, and for our soldiers, but seeing their world broadening and them becoming intercessors for other nations is a beautiful reminder that God created us to be one body in Christ.

I know that prayer is powerful, and I believe in the power of a genuine child’s prayer. So now I pray the Lord hears their prayers and heals and redeems not just Ukraine but the world as a whole.
