Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry has expressed gratitude to Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk for his commitment to the principle “nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine.” Ministry spokesperson Heorhiy Tykhyi shared the statementin a comment to Interfax-Ukraine.
“The Ukrainian side consistently and firmly emphasizes the need for strict adherence to this principle. The war is being fought on Ukrainian soil, so Ukraine will determine the parameters for a comprehensive, just, and lasting peace,” Tykhyi said.
He added that a fair end to Russia’s aggression, respecting Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, international law, and the goals and principles of the UN Charter, is in the interest of all peace-loving nations.
On Nov. 9, Tusk hinted that a declaration from the United States could be expected soon, potentially addressing a ceasefire date, the borders where it will be enforced, and security guarantees for Ukraine.
He also stressed that “decisions about the war in Ukraine cannot be made over the heads of not only Ukrainians but also ours.”
