From: Ira Kapitonova in Kyiv (Day 997 – 3923 days since the occupation of Crimea)
O you who love the Lord, hate evil!
He preserves the lives of his saints;
he delivers them from the hand of the wicked.
Light is sown for the righteous,
and joy for the upright in heart.
Psalm 97:10-11
I sometimes envy the wicked because they have no moral principles limiting them. The Western leaders weigh the consequences of every aid package (being unnecessarily cautious most of the time), trying to avoid escalations and consulting their nations before making big decisions.
Meanwhile, Russia’s allies throw caution to the wind and eagerly join the evil schemes. Iran has been a major supplier of Shahed drones, teaching Russian soldiers how to operate them and helping them set up manufacturing lines. North Korea has sent at least 50 self-propelled artillery systems and 20 modernized multiple-launch rocket systems to Russia, in addition to 12,000 North Korean soldiers. China has been its #1 supplier of “dual-use” goods like microelectronics and machine tools, which can be used to make weapons. Several African countries have some shady agreements with Russia and promises of mutual support in combat operations. Yet many people still think of this war as a “local conflict” instead of the world crisis it really is.
In all of this, I remind myself that all the gains of the wicked are temporary and false, no matter how promising they might look in the immediate future. However, true justice comes from the Lord, and the reward awaits those who are true to their convictions and faithful in all circumstances.
