11/19/2024 — Russian missile attack on Odesa: Eight killed, dozens injured, widespread damage and fires

At least eight people were killed and 39 others, including a child, were injured in a Russian missile attack on a densely populated area of Odesa shortly after noon on Nov. 18, regional Governor Oleh Kiper reported on Telegram.

Among the 8 dead are doctors, police officers, and ordinary civilians. Four people were hospitalized in serious condition. There are fires in several residential buildings.

“Civilian infrastructure, including residential buildings, were damaged,” he wrote.

According to MP Oleksiy Honcharenko, one Russian missile hit the building of an educational institution but did not explode.

Odesa officials said that “children in regular groups were in shelters.”

“These are not random strikes – these are demonstrative strikes after calls and meetings with Putin,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy wroteon Telegram, adding that a ballistic missile hit “a parking lot. An apartment building, a university, and an administrative building were damaged.”
