11/27/2024 —Oh grant us help against the foe, for vain is the salvation of man!

From: Ira Kapitonova in Kyiv (Day 1007 – 3933 days since the occupation of Crimea)

Oh grant us help against the foe,
for vain is the salvation of man!
With God we shall do valiantly;
it is he who will tread down our foes.
Psalm 108:12-13

The past few nights included drone attacks. To be honest, I was too tired to hear anything. We slept in our apartment hallway, as always during an air raid.
They say Russia launched a record number of drones last night. I’m getting tired of these insane “records,” so I’m simply glad we are alive and well.

These days are filled with lots of anxieties, like which city they are going to hit with ballistic missiles and whether or not they will launch nuclear weapons. But they’re also filled with little joys that overshadow the heartbreak and worries. I got to visit with a wonderful friend who came to Ukraine for a few days, and my son and husband got to have their fun “boys’ night.” At the end of the day, we all felt joyful and grateful, as it should be.
