12/13/2024 — Lukashenko fears Assad’s fate, sees Putin unable to shield dictators — Radina

Belarusian journalist and editor-in-chief of the Charter’97 website, Natallia Radina, told Radio NV that Russian Oreshnik intermediate-range ballistic missiles are deployed in Belarus, adding that Alexander Lukashenko fears the fallout from Bashar Assad’s regime collapse in Syria.

— Lukashenko claims he is already selecting a location for deploying Russian Oreshnik missiles. However, as with nuclear weapons, a legitimate question arises: How can we be sure these missiles are actually in Belarus? Could this just be Lukashenko’s propaganda or fabrications?

— I can say with certainty that there are no Oreshnik missiles or nuclear warheads in Belarus yet. Lukashenko is lying in this case, lying out of fear. He is deeply afraid. His wild panic stems from events in Syria. He has realized that Putin can no longer protect the dictators he supports. The fall of Bashar Assad’s regime has had a profound psychological impact on Lukashenko.

As for nuclear missiles, experts, with whom I agree, say there aren’t even storage facilities for nuclear warheads in Belarus. Lukashenko claims there are old Soviet-era storage sites, but the truth is, those facilities have been destroyed. Today, he could only store such missiles in barns. However, we understand that proper conditions are required, and Belarus currently lacks them.
