The West should focus on arming Ukraine, the talks about deploying peacekeepers are premature, Finnish President Alexander Stubb said at the Joint Expeditionary Force (JEF) Summit in Tallinn, Yle outlet reported on Dec. 17.

He outlined the first priority for the Ukraine’s allies for now.

“Since there is now no peace in Ukraine, the West must primarily focus on providing Ukraine with the necessary weapons,” Stubb said.

“Any peacekeeping operation would require a UN mandate,” he added.

When asked what message he would send to Russia, Stubb replied, “Withdraw your troops.”

After the conference in Paris on Feb. 26 supporting Ukraine, French President Emmanuel Macron stated that Ukraine’s Western allies would form a coalition to supply long-range weapons to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. He also noted that the possibility of sending Western troops to Ukraine in the future could not be ruled out.
