From: Ira Kapitonova in Kyiv (Day 1043)
Teach me to do your will, for you are my God!
Let your good Spirit lead me on level ground!
Psalm 143:10
The first day of 2025 started with a drone attack on Kyiv. They damaged several buildings in two city districts, killing 2 people.
At the same time, two recent reports caught my attention. Last week, Ukraine sent 500 tons of flour as humanitarian aid to Syria to help prevent the food crisis there. Over 33,000 families would get a supply to feed them for a month.
Today, there was a report on blackouts in Moldova as Russia halted gas supplies to Moldova, citing alleged unpaid debt. Weaponizing energy supplies is a well-known tactic. However, Ukraine promised to supply electricity to Moldova at night when Ukraine’s consumption is low.
I love how these two cases show that we are able to see beyond our own struggles, and where Russia brings anxiety and destruction, Ukraine brings hope and restoration.
May the Lord bless Ukraine and bring us lasting justice and peace so that we can be a testimony and blessing to many!
