From: Roman Sheremeta (Professor of Economics, Board Member, Founding Rector of American University Kyiv) — A Ukrainian F-16 pilot made history by shooting down six cruise missiles in a single combat flight.
This occurred during a massive attack on December 13, when russian forces used drones, ballistic and cruise missiles.
According to Yuriy Ignat, the head of communications for the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the pilot was welcomed with applause and standing ovations upon returning to the airfield.
The F-16 carries only four air-to-air missiles under its wings, yet the Ukrainian pilot managed to destroy six russian missiles. The last two were taken down using the aircraft’s rapid-fire cannon, which Ukrainian pilots had never used against missiles before.
If we give Ukrainians the tools, they will do the job.
