Our Christmas break is over, and school resumes tomorrow. In a way, I’m glad to be busy again because the break gave me too much time for thinking and processing I wasn’t ready for.
During the break, we looked through some old pictures and videos on my phone. Of course, seeing the chubby baby cheeks of my son, who’s grown a lot since then, was weird. However, what struck me the most was the realization of how different our lives were. Careless laughter, silly games, excitement for tomorrow – one can say those go hand in hand with a young baby and you shouldn’t expect them to last. However, I know that those daily pleasures turned into luxuries with the full-scale war. The reminder of how different our lives used to be was heavier than I expected.
