From: Roman Sheremeta — There can be no lasting peace without justice.

When we think of peace, we imagine a world without wars, destruction, or chaos. But peace cannot endure without justice.

After the Nazis were defeated, peace was restored in Europe. However, for it to be a lasting peace, the Nuremberg trials had to take place. Why? Because justice demands accountability for evil actions.

Germans accepted collective responsibility for the atrocities committed by the Nazis. Those directly involved in genocide and mass killings were executed. Others were imprisoned. And even today, over 80 years later, Germany continues to pay reparations.

As world leaders push for “peace talks” between Ukraine and russia, justice must be part of the conversation. russia must be held accountable for the atrocities it has committed.

Putin, Lavrov, Medvedev, and other war criminals must stand trial. The propagandists who incited this genocide must be punished. Russians must take collective responsibility for their complacency and inaction.

Without justice, there can be no lasting peace.
