A new government body, the Agency of National Unity, will be established in Ukraine to engage with the Ukrainian diaspora and non-governmental organizations abroad, the Cabinet announced on Jan. 24.
The agency will operate under the existing Ministry of National Unity.
The new structure aims to implement initiatives for engaging with the Ukrainian diaspora and non-governmental organizations overseas.
βThis is an important milestone for the ministry, offering new opportunities for effective collaboration with our citizens,β said Oleksiy Chernyshov, the Minister for National Unity.
βIt will allow us to systematically address issues of integration, social adaptation, and the preservation of national identity for Ukrainians temporarily displaced from their homes.β
On Dec. 3, the Reintegration Ministry was rebranded as the Ministry of National Unity, with the Ukrainian parliament confirming Chernyshov as its head. Chernyshov previously chaired the board of state oil and gas company Naftogaz, served as minister for community and territorial development from 2020 to 2022, and was head of the Kyiv Regional Administration from 2019 to 2020.
