1/27/2025 — Today marks 80 years since the liberation of concentration and extermination camp Auschwitz

Today marks 80 years since the liberation of concentration and extermination camp Auschwitz. More than 1 000 000 people were brutally murdered in just that one camp. The process of killing was perfected and continuously improved. 80 years ago, the world was shocked to see Auschwitz and other camps like it. Books have been written and movies have been made trying to understand how Germans could go along with that brutality – watching silently or even supporting when Jews of all ages were taken out of their homes, put into concentration camps, and then worked to death or gassed to death there.

80 years later, humanity has learned its lessons; it has become more civilized and kinder, and it doesn’t support the criminal and murderous actions of dictators. Right? No, not really! Less than 80 years later ruzzians started another big war in Europe and their brutality has been no different. Humanity is not getting more civilized and kinder. The basic instincts of dictators driven by greed and power are the same; the basic instincts and excuses of the crowd of followers didn’t change much either.
