From: Meanwhile in Ukraine πΊπ¦ β Around 20,000 people are known to have been killed in Mariupol, but exact numbers remain unknown, Zelensky stated.
The President of Ukraine made this remark in an interview with the Italian newspaper Il Foglio.
βI think itβs impossible to determine without proper on-site investigations. We had information that Russians killed about 20,000 people. But I canβt say for certain. People there were diverse. Thousands were taken prisoner, most of them from that area. Weβve managed to return 4,000 prisoners, but thousands more remain,β Zelensky said.
He also recalled that most of the 19,500 children known to have been taken by Russia from the occupied southern regions of Ukraine, including Mariupol.
