2/3/2025 — Do evangelical believers in Russia support Putin and his war against Ukraine?

From: Maia Mikhaluk in Kyiv (1076th day

It’s sad but not surprising anymore to see evangelical churches of ruzzia support putin and the war against Ukraine. I guess it would be naïve to think that Christians are more discerning, not as easily manipulated or stand stronger for what is right. Church in Nazi Germany collaborating with Hitler and church in ruzzia supporting putin dismiss all illusions.

Video post from: Sergey Rakhuba — Do evangelical believers in Russia support Putin and his war against Ukraine? Just watch this video…

Many in America and the West are questioning whether the Evangelical Church in Russia supports Putin and his regime in the unprovoked and aggressive attack on Ukraine – the war that has already claimed an estimated 600,000+ lives in Ukraine, primarily among the younger generation and displaced nearly one-third of the country’s population, forcing over 12 million people from their homes and communities.

It is well known that the Russian Orthodox Church, under the leadership of Patriarch Kirill, has been a primary ideological and spiritual force behind this devastating war against the sovereign nation of Ukraine. Russian Orthodox priests have openly demonstrated their support by publicly blessing and sprinkling “holy water” over ballistic missiles before they are launched to kill innocent civilians, including children and families, in neighboring Ukraine. Tragically, much of the Evangelical Church in Russia has also aligned itself with this invasion—what Putin still euphemistically calls a “special military operation.”

It is deeply saddening to witness evangelical leaders like Sergey Ryakhovsky, the head of one of Russia’s largest Protestant denominations (charismatics), publicly claiming to speak on behalf of all evangelicals in Russia while reaffirming support for the Russian government and military. He openly encourages congregations to pray for Putin and his regime and actively aid soldiers in their mission—one that has brought immense suffering and destruction to Ukraine.

This video, recorded in Moscow yesterday at a “government and church convention” called The Spiritual Front, provides further insight into this disturbing reality. English subtitles are available.
