Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov has criticized U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposal to exchange American aid for Ukraine’s rare earth elements, suggesting that Ukraine should receive no aid at all at a briefing on Feb. 4.
Peskov referred to Trump’s proposal as “buying aid” and stated that it would be better if Ukraine received no assistance.
“This is a proposal to buy aid. Not to continue providing it for free, but to ensure it on a commercial basis,” said Putinβs spokesman.
Peskov also expressed his wish that Ukraine receive no aid in the ongoing war with Russia, believing this would help “end this conflict.”
Regarding Trump’s recent statements about progress in negotiations to end the war, Peskov said the Kremlin had nothing new to add to its previous comments.
