2/8/2025 — A letter from ERSU

From: Evangelical Reformed Seminary of Ukraine

Dear Friends of ERSU,

At the end of January we held our latest teaching intensive with New Testament Introduction, taught by our faculty member Valerii Zadorozhnii and “Faith, Culture and Society” taught by our friend Dr Jonghun Joo, Professor of Practical Theology Chongshin Theological Seminary in Seoul (with missionary experience in Africa and in Ukraine.) In this course, he helped our students explore how does our faith shapes our lives.

As Dr Joo explained: “Life formation is not just self-development, but the work of the triune God. Culture is not the work of people, but our participation in God’s work in the world.”

Just the weekend before our classes began. The centre of Kyiv was hit by ballistic missiles badly damaging a metro station. However, for most of class time, things were relatively quiet and we are thankful that despite Russia’s ongoing attacks on energy infrastructure, we did not have electricity switched off once.

Please pray for our students. One of them was drafted in the middle of our 2 weeks of classes and other face the possibility of being drafted at any moment. We continue to pray for a just end to the war waged against us.
