The exhumation of Polish victims of the Volyn tragedy will begin in spring 2025 in Puzhnyky, Ternopil Oblast, Ukrainian Ambassador to Poland Vasyl Bodnar said in an interview with Polish TV channel TVN24 on Feb. 9.
Polish officials plan to begin exhumations in Puzhnyky this spring, pending favorable weather and final preparations, Ambassador Bartosz Cichocki said.
According to Polish Ombudsman Marcin Bodnar, efforts are underway to identify additional sites for exhuming Polish victims in both Poland and Ukraine.
“Under Ukrainian law, a licensed Ukrainian company must conduct such work. Poland has a local partner, and cooperation with Ukrainian institutions is progressing,” Bodnar said.
