From: Maia Mikhaluk in Kyiv (1084th day)
Last night was loud. Ukraine was attacked with 19 missiles and 124 drones. Poltava was hit the hardest. Then we woke up and read the latest news.
No day goes by without some new statements from Trump on Ukraine-ruzzia war. As you can imagine, Ukrainians read them, trying to understand Trump’s plan. I prefer not to comment on those statements. Compiling them together would not give one any clear picture of Trump’s position, much less a plan.
Today, all Ukrainians watched with feelings. I will not describe the part of a recent interview where Trump says that Ukraine might make a deal or not make a deal, it may become ruzzia or not become ruzzia, but all he cares about is to get from Ukraine 500 billion worth of rare mineral resources as payment for support.
The idea of Ukraine giving the US our minerals has been around for a few days, but today the emphasis seems to be on the fact that Trump doesn’t care if Ukraine gets taken by ruzzia/become ruzzia. So we already gave up our nuclear arsenal 30 years ago with the USA’s empty promise of protection. Now, we are expected to give up rare minerals without even a promise? Why does it feel like while Ukraine is being raped and tortured by the enemy, we are also being robbed by a friend/neighbor?
In all fairness, not long ago, it was Kellogg (Trump’s representative) who said that about 100 billion was given to support Ukraine, and it mainly stayed in the States, financing the production of new weapons in the States while old weapons were given to Ukraine. Yet it’s expected that Ukraine will “pay” 500 billion regardless of the war’s outcome?
