From: Maia Mikhaluk in Kyiv (1097th day.
3 YEARS)
On Feb 23, 2022, we went to bed with our hearts filled with fear of imminent war (200,000 ruzzian troops gathered on our borders and ruzzians still lying that they would not attack). At 5am on Feb 24th we woke up to the first explosions of ruzzian full-scale invasion and the last three year our lives have been filled with war.
February 24, the day that marks brutal invasion is now officially Day of National Prayer in Ukraine. The war has brought a lot of suffering, but it also brought us closer to God.
My first post on FB when the invasion started was: “We are not running anywhere except with prayer to God.” My friends were urging us to run out of country, some friends do, but God has placed us on this earth as citizens of Ukraine to fulfill His calling – and this calling is to do His work, to stand for truth, against evil and to serve those who suffer. Just as 1097 days ago we are not running anywhere except with prayer to God.

Dear Heavenly Father, You are our Refuge! You are our Comfort in deepest sorrow, our Protector in greatest danger, our Strength when we are weak and exhausted! You are our only true Hope! You are the Truth and Justice in the world of lies and treachery! You are Faithful! You are in control and You will not allow evil to win.
We are grateful to You, God, for giving our defenders supernatural strength and courage to stand against Goliath. Even though the enemy seems to have endless supply of people willing to die for sick ambitions of their maniac leader, you gave Ukrainian Armed Forces strength to destroy more than 800,000 enemy soldiers and thousands of their deadly machines. We are grateful, God, for the resilience you give to our people to stand against the terror the enemy showers on our land – killing and kidnapping children, raping women, torturing the elderly, persecuting pastors and priests, looting homes, destroying churches, leveling to the ground villages and cities, destroying our energy infrastructure. The Darkness boasts its strength and pronounces its victories, but You are allowing Ukraine to put to shame the second largest army in the world! You use us to shame the strength of the wicked.
We are grateful to you, God, for friends who came to help. We thank you, God, for your people who pray and for those who speak the truth about this invasion even if there is a cost to speaking the truth. We thank you for reminding us that our solid Hope is only in you, that even trusted friends can betray and put a knife in the back. We know, God, you turn the worst circumstances for good for those who love you. We are grateful that through this difficult time of suffering your turn the hearts of Ukrainians to you and we trust you will show your Glory in bringing just peace to our land and punishing the wicked. You are the True Peacemaker!

Our hearts cry out to you with pain of so many losses. We weep with mothers and fathers who lost their children, we morn with children who lost their parents, we are heartbroken over the destruction of so much of our land! We plead with you, God, for justice, for punishment of the evil people who are doing the crimes, who are supporting the crimes, who come to help the evil to prosper, who want to help evil to win. We know it breaks your heart, God, to see the suffering of the oppressed. You will not side with those boastful and deceitful who can manipulate their nations in justifying their evil deeds.
The kings might think they are above human laws, but they are not above your Law and your Justice. Human history is full of situations described in Daniel 11:27: “The two kings, with their hearts bent on evil, will sit at the same table and lie to each other, but to no avail, because an end will still come at the appointed time.” Now are watching how two wannabe kings are getting ready to sit at the table and lie to each other and to divide our land and resources. We beg you, God, to use weak to shame the strong. We ask you to destroy the evil plans. We trust that the end to evil will come at your appointed time and evil doers will be put to shame and face not only Your justice but also human justice.

Give us strength, God to be faithful to Your calling and to Your Truth. We wish we didn’t live at times like these, but we are grateful you have chosen us for the time such as this.
Ps 23:4-6
Even though I walk
through the darkest valley,[a]
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
6 Surely your goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the LORD
forever.
