From: Ira Kapitonova in Kyiv (Day 1100)
Offer to God a sacrifice of thanksgiving,
and perform your vows to the Most High,
and call upon me in the day of trouble;
I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me.
Psalm 50:14-15
Even though my posts have the number of the full-scale invasion, I never forget that the actual war started 11 years ago. February 26th is considered the Day of resistance to the occupation of Crimea.
On February 26, 2014, Russia started its occupation of Crimea. There was a lot of resistance through peaceful protests, rallies, and demonstrations, but then came persecution, abduction, and terror. Some of those detained in 2014 are still in Russian prisons. Thousands of people had to leave their homes in 2014 when the aggressor was allowed to take what he wanted, only to relive this nightmare in 2022. Millions of people dream of the day when Crimea will be free again, and my son is one of them. He’s never been there, but he loves the culture of Crimean Tatars (one of the indigenous people groups of Crimea) and often asks me if we’ll visit Crimea once it’s liberated.
We’ll keep remembering, hoping, praying, and fighting for our Crimea.
