The sky over Kyiv was amazing yesterday – bright red, the colors becoming more vivid by the minute. My granddaughter called me to see it. It was beautiful, but the display also filled the heart with dread. Our anti-missile defense has been significantly weakened by Trump’s order to stop helping Ukraine with intelligence,s and maniac putin is increasing missile attacks.
We watch in disbelief how quickly our worst fears about Trump’s intentions come true and how creatively and ethusiastically his supporters keep excusing the obvious – Trump aligns America with ruzzia and does putin’s dirty work like putin never could.
Here is another parable for you to consider. Imagine an armed robbery and rape is taking place in your neighborhood. There are screams and loud noises from one of the houses on your street. The person in the house that is robbed is fighting back. Policeman shows up, takes in the scene and says, this has to stop! He talks to robber/rapist, I will hold the victim down. Please, finish your business quicker and let’s go back to beautiful peace and quiet. Policeman hopes to get a medal for his heroic interference. On the way out of the house he also picks up a few valuables from the robbed house – payment for his troubles. When some neighbors question that policing, they are told that it was really 4D chess playing and they need to wait and see how in the end everyone will be happy to have one less neighbor and a very nice new friend of the neighborhood who comes at night to kill, steal, and destroy.
Trump ordered to stop supply of military aid and military intelligence to Ukraine. It will give ruzzia some more advantages on battle field – just as it did during the 7 months when Republicans stopped military aid to Ukraine in the fall of 2023. I am sure putin is grateful to Trump for the timely help – the last few weeks ruzzian attacks on the front lines were not very fruitful. However, the cities far from front lines will feel the most significant impact of this immoral and cruel order. American intelligence has been giving advance warning about missile and drone strikes. Now ruzzians will have a head start in their attacks, less time for our air missile defense to react, air raids sounding too late for people to rush to bomb shelters. That’s some 4D chess moves on Trump’s part! More dead Ukrainian civilians – what a beautiful game!
Trump believers will say it’s all because Zelensky didn’t sign Trump’s deal or didn’t show enough respect. Even if it was the case, does it justify immoral action of helping putin’s terrorism? If this is his way of “bringing peace” by speeding up killing of Ukrainians and destroying Ukraine, then sure genocide is new peace.
Trump keeps saying putin wants peace. Putin’s wanting peace expresses itself in attacks on Ukraine with 150-250 drones every night. Now that our air defense is left blind without advance warnings about missile strikes, more missiles hit their targets. One of those yesterday was a hotel in downtown of Kryvyi Rig. When we go to Kherson region with humanitarian aid trips we sometimes spend a night in that city. That hotel comes up as the first choice for booking.
Ruzzians hardly used missiles in the fall and the winter. At first we were wondering if they were saving them for the winter time to hit our energy infrastructure when the temperatures drop low. But they didn’t. Were they waiting for Trump to deliver what must have been promised to putin long ago?
One American friend suggested that all these things (like withholding intelligence, stopping military aid, etc) are strategies to get putin to the negotiations table. I have two questions. 1) if so much is promised/given to putin even before negotiations started (our territory, Ukraine left unprotected by NATO or security guarantees, Ukraine left open to ruzzian missile strikes lifting sanctions on ruzzia, etc), what else is left to give at negotiations? 2) Why getting putin to the table has to involve further hurting Ukraine? Why not put some pressure on putin? My answer is Trump can do nothing to putin, he can only do things for putin.
