My Fellow American Friends,
I write to you today not from a place of anger, but from the depths of despair and hope that still flicker in my adopted homeland. The decisions being made in Washington echo through our bomb shelters and across our shattered cities.
You may be weary of hearing about Ukraine. I understand. War fatigue is real, and you have your own pressing concerns at home. If America chooses to step back from military aid, that is her sovereign choice.
But I must speak plainly about what comes next.
It’s one thing to pause your assistance—quite another to actively empower our aggressor. By dismantling sanctions against Russia while simultaneously withholding crucial intelligence that helps us protect civilian lives, innocent Ukrainians are being sentenced to death.
Each night, our families seek shelter from Russian missiles. The intelligence America has provided allows us to intercept many of these weapons before they strike homes, schools, and hospitals.
Without this information, our defense systems become significantly less effective. Each missing intercept means Ukrainian lives lost—mothers, fathers, children.
President Trump spoke of peace within 100 days—a goal we celebrated with cautious optimism. But peace cannot be dictated unilaterally while excluding the voices of those actually fighting and dying in this war. Europe and Ukraine must have a seat at this table.
If America truly seeks to end the suffering, why strip away the very tools that prevent civilian casualties? This isn’t about peace—it’s about submission through suffering.
You need not send another dollar or weapon if that is your choice. But please, I implore you—don’t strengthen the hand that bombs our cities while simultaneously binding ours. Don’t dismantle the international sanctions that were carefully crafted with your allies. Don’t withhold intelligence that saves civilian lives.
Ukraine remembers America’s promise when she surrendered her nuclear arsenal—that her territorial integrity would be defended. Though that promise may be set aside, we ask only that you not actively contribute to our destruction.
This is our homeland, our freedom, our fight. If you choose to step back, we will continue without you—but please don’t make our path more deadly by empowering those who seek to erase us from the map.
The blood of Ukrainian children should not be the price of diplomatic leverage.
With hope and determination,
From Ukraine
