The ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine continues to fuel heated discussions, with new diplomatic developments drawing attention. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt recently referenced a key point of tension — the Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant, located in Enerhodar on the Dnipro River, straddling the borders of Ukraine’s Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhya oblasts.

The facility has been under Russian occupation since Feb. 24, 2022.

Leavitt noted that President Donald Trump planned to raise the issue during an upcoming call with Vladimir Putin, stating, “He will address it in his call with Putin tomorrow.”

This remark fits into a broader narrative emerging from Trump’s inner circle, where some key advisers have suggested Ukraine may need to make territorial concessions to Russia as part of a peace deal. Such comments have sparked concerns that Trump’s diplomatic approach could pressure Kyiv to relinquish occupied territories in exchange for ending the war.

While Trump has repeatedly emphasized his desire to resolve the conflict through direct talks with Putin, he has often avoided making firm commitments to uphold Ukraine’s territorial integrity.
