About 73% of Ukrainians believe that Donald Trump’s presidency has had a negative impact on their country, according to a survey conducted by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS) in March.
This is a significant increase compared to only 21% last December. Meanwhile, the percentage of those who believe Trump’s election has had a positive impact dropped from 54% to 19% over the same period.
In addition, the survey asked participants about their thoughts on the possibility of achieving a just peace in Ukraine under President Trump. A majority (55%) now believe that Ukraine can expect a “completely unjust peace,” up from 31% in December 2024. Only 18% believe that Kyiv can count on a just peace, and another 21% admit that the peace will be partially just.
KIIS Executive Director Anton Hrushetsky highlighted the potential impact of changes in U.S. foreign policy on Ukraine and other countries, noting that failure to address these issues could lead to an increase in anti-American sentiment.
