US President Donald Trump turned down Russian dictator Vladimir Putin’s proposal for a “temporary international administration” in Ukraine under the auspices of the United Nations, US State Department spokeswoman Tammy Bruce told Fox on March 31, according to public broadcaster Suspilne.
She reiterated the United States’ support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and emphasized that the governance in Kyiv is determined by the constitution and its people.
The White House is working towards achieving a complete ceasefire and facilitating negotiations.
“We are working with Russia and Ukraine and we are committed to continuing our efforts to bring them to the negotiating table,” Bruce said.
On March 27, Putin claimed that world practice supposedly allows for the introduction of temporary external governance in a country, which, in his opinion, could create conditions for peace negotiations.
