Pastor Mark Burns, considered to be the “personal spiritual adviser” to U.S. President Donald Trump, said Ukrainian soldiers on the front lines are asking not for money but for weapons to destroy Russian drones that have been targeting homes and killing civilians.
“These soldiers on the front lines are not asking for money,” Burns wrote in a Twitter post on March 31, after visiting several towns near Kyiv on the third anniversary of their liberation.
“They are asking for 1,000 tanks, 300 F-35s, anti-air weapons to shoot down the drones that still fire at civilian buildings and killing people.”
Burns stated that helping Kyiv defend its sovereignty is a charge that transcends U.S. party politics.
“The war in Ukraine is bigger than Democrats or Republicans, the Left or the Right,” the message said.
“Whether you dislike President Trump or President Zelenskyy, real people are dying here. 20,000 children have been kidnapped and stolen to Russia. 300 women were recently raped, as reported by multi-faith religious leaders. 700 religious buildings have been destroyed on purpose because they are often the only source of hope offered to the Ukrainian people. Innocent non-soldiers shot in the back of the head with their hands tied behind their backs.”
