Military officials representing countries that are prepared to deploy troops in Ukraine “in one form or another” will meet to discuss the plans on April 4, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on April 1.

The president made the statement during a meeting with German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock.

“There will be a meeting among our military teams and a select circle of countries ready to station a contingent in one form or another,” Ukrainian news agency Interfax-Ukraine quoted Zelenskyy.

On March 28, Zelenskyy said that in about a week Ukraine would host a meeting of defense officials from key nations prepared to provide a military contingent.

On April 1, a spokesman for UK PM Keir Starmer said military representatives from the United Kingdom, France and Ukraine would soon meet to create a “real momentum” in efforts to strengthen Ukraine’s security.

On March 27, a “Coalition of the Willing” summit took place in Paris, where discussions included deploying “measurement forces” to Ukraine. The summit brought together representatives from 31 countries along with the president of the European Commission and NATO’s secretary general.

Following the summit, French President Emmanuel Macron proposed sending troop contingents from several nations to “strategic locations” in Ukraine.
