U.S. Republican Congresswoman Victoria Spartz, who was born in Ukraine, has sparked controversy by stating that Ukrainians “must come to terms with giving up some of their territory to Russia,” The Telegraph reported on April 7.
“I just don’t see how they [Ukraine] can be positioned to demand to keep the land. If they would be winning the war, that will be very different.”
Spartz, who immigrated to the United States in 2000 and became a U.S. citizen, has been a vocal figure in discussions surrounding U.S. support for Ukraine. She expressed support for former President Donald Trump’s approach to negotiating with Russian President Vladimir Putin, acknowledging the complexities involved: “President Trump inherited it, so now he has to deal with that.” She emphasized the importance of swift resolution, noting, “As I said two years ago, the best thing is to win wars as fast as you can. As long as it takes usually doesn’t end very well for Democracies.”
