Mark Burns, a prominent evangelical pastor and spiritual advisor to U.S. President Donald Trump, labeled Russia “pure evil” and called for increased military aid to Ukraine’s Armed Forces after visiting war-torn areas like Bucha, admitting fake media had “brainwashed” him, in a Kyiv Independent interview released on April 10.
He called for more tanks, fighter jets, and air defense systems to be sent to Kyiv.
Burns’s position changed dramatically after his recent trip to Ukraine, where he saw firsthand the atrocities committed by Russia.
“Obviously being on the ground in Ukraine has changed my opinion significantly. I am on record as being one of the staunch opponents of supporting Ukraine.,” he said.
Nearly 700 religious institutions have been deliberately targeted by the Russians since the start of the full-scale invasion, Burns added.
“It changed my perspective significantly. I now believe that supporting Ukraine is America first,” he stated.
The pastor added that he is still a strong supporter of Trump.
