I Raise a Hallelujah — in the Storms of Ukraine
Worshiping at Menlo Church, California this morning, but our hearts are back in Ukraine —
where Sunday services begin under the shadow of another night of terror:
149 drones sent to destroy, but not to defeat.
In the middle of the storm, we still sing.
I raise a hallelujah, in the presence of my enemies.
I raise a hallelujah, louder than the unbelief.
I raise a hallelujah, my weapon is a melody.
I raise a hallelujah, heaven comes to fight for me.
I’m gonna sing, in the middle of the storm —
louder and louder, you’re gonna hear our praises roar.
Up from the ashes, hope will arise;
death is defeated, the King is alive!
I raise a hallelujah, with everything inside of me —
even when missiles fly, and darkness tries to choke the dawn.
I raise a hallelujah, I will watch the darkness flee.
I raise a hallelujah, in the middle of the mystery,
I raise a hallelujah — fear, you lost your hold on me!
I’m gonna sing, in the middle of the storm.
Louder and louder, you’re gonna hear our praises roar.
Up from the ashes, hope will arise.
Death is defeated, the King is alive!
Even under sirens, even as hearts tremble, we will:
Sing a little louder (in the presence of our enemies)
Sing a little louder (louder than the unbelief)
Sing a little louder (our weapon is a melody)
Sing a little louder (heaven comes to fight for us).
We sing in Ukraine, in USA and in churches everywhere around the world.
We sing for hope.
We sing because death does not have the final word.
We sing because Christ is alive.
