From: New Voice of Ukraine — Kyiv officials are ready to begin negotiating the detailed terms of Ukraine’s EU accession, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on May 21.
“We are preparing the accession process in detail,” the president said in his evening address.
“Everything on our side is ready to launch the first [negotiation] clusters.”
He noted that he recently discussed the matter with Polish PM Donald Tusk.
“Poland is currently chairing the EU [council presidency], and it is important that their presidency is effective,” Zelensky added.
He also said he spoke with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte about possible meeting formats and ways to advance Ukraine–NATO cooperation.
Earlier, European Enlargement Commissioner Marta Kos said Ukraine and Moldova would open the first negotiation cluster together as part of the accession talks.
All 27 EU member states have given the green light to begin negotiations with Ukraine, although Hungary is currently blocking the process.
