5/31/2025 — Hope When the Storm Won’t End

To those who carry us in their hearts and prayers

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, following the initial shock, fear, and the realization that God preserved us, a strange joy came—despite destruction, rockets, and ever-emerging challenges. The Church revealed itself. And at the same time, the Church was sifted.

Just as when Jesus spoke to His disciples about the test they were about to endure at the time of His death:

“Simon, Simon, behold, Satan has demanded to sift you men like wheat.”
— Luke 22:31

Judas had already fallen, and the others were on the brink. It’s striking that immediately after this, Jesus repeatedly urges them to pray—not when the temptation comes, but beforehand.
Before they would deny Him.
Before they would flee from the garden and abandon Him.
Before they would walk the road to Emmaus in despair.
Before their hearts would be overwhelmed with guilt.
Before their faith would begin to waver and doubt would creep in—even as others testified to His resurrection and power….

….We are currently witnessing a stark contrast in emotional and psychological conditions among people attending our churches throughout the country. This difference stems from the vastly unequal exposure to danger and air raid alarms across Ukraine….
